The Secretariat staff in collaboration with the High Representative continued their site visits. They visited EDCTP funded projects in Zimbabwe, where they met with the involved research scientists as well as relevant government leaders. These visits are very useful for not only assessing the progress of the projects but also for identifying capacity gaps and involving African leadership. The EDCTP capacity building activities that were conducted some of which are reported in the newsletter ; include the GCP course at Banjul, the Gambia, the Project and Data Management Course at Johannesburg, South Africa, the launch of the ATM Clinical Trials Registry at Cape Town, South Africa and two Global Network Training Courses on Regulatory Affairs that were conducted in collaboration with WHO in Harare, Zimbabwe. Therefore as we launch the current series of grant calls we look forward to a very busy time to come and wish everyone successful outcomes.

University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, 515 W. Lombard St., Room 279, Baltimore, MD 21201 PURPOSE: To evaluate the impact of an educational and priorauthorization program on the appropriate prescribing of OxyContin and potential substitute narcotic analgesics and health care utilization in a Medicaid FFS population. METHODS: The educational intervention targeted OxyContin prescribers and focused on ways to prevent diversion of controlled substances. The prior-authorization program required a medical necessity review for any OxyContin prescription s ; exceeding 3 tablets a day or more than 2 concurrent strengths. A preapproach-postapproach using descriptive time series and bivariate analyses of administrative claims were used to assess utilization of OxyContin and other narcotic analgesics as well as emergency department and physician outpatient visits for chronic pain and cancer. RESULTS: At 6 months postintervention, the prescribing of multiple OxyContin tablets and the days of multiple strengths use was reduced by 84% and 22%, respectively. Among Medicaid FFS enrollees, OxyContin use decreased 3.7%; however, the trend appears to be increasing. Other narcotic analgesic use increased 9.9% with fentanyl patch users increasing by 27%. There were no significant changes in the number of users or and ferret.

``Patelloa xanthura'': P. xanthuraDHJ01 was found to be one provisional species reared from at least 145 species of caterpillars in 19 families, unambiguously a generalist, and five specialists. Each of these specialists parasitizes a very restricted number of species in a different family of caterpillars Fig. 1, SI Table 1 and SI Appendices 1 and 2 ; . ``Hyphantrophaga blanda'': H. blandaDHJ06 was found to be one barcode group reared from at least 21 species of caterpillars in seven families-unambiguously a generalist- and two specialists: H. blandaDHJ02 and H. blandaDHJ03. Each of the latter use a very narrow and nonoverlapping range of caterpillar species, species that are not attacked by H. blandaDHJ06 see SI Table 1 and SI Appendix 2 ; . These three provisional species are supported by distinct haplotypes within both ITS1 and 28S Fig. 2 and SI Appendix 4 a and b ; . ``Hemisturmia tenuipalpis'': H. tenuipalpisDHJ03 was found to be one generalist reared from at least 10 species and five families. However, H. tenuipalpisDHJ01 is a specialist on Immidae; H. tenuipalpisDHJ02 specializes on one species, Hylesia umbrata Saturniidae and H. tenuipalpisDHJ04 specializes on two members of one genus, Cliniodes Crambidae ; . All of these species of caterpillars occur at high densities, but only on a few individuals of their food plants. H. tenuipalpisDHJ03 also contains shallow CO1 divergences that we hypothesized might be two marginally separated species, but this was not supported by ecological information or independent genetic markers [ITS1, 28S see SI Appendix 5 a and b ; ]. We therefore conclude that H. tenuipalpisDHJ03 is one provisional species. ``Lespesia postica'': One morphospecies splits into six when barcoded, and each provisional species parasitizes a different species or a small closely related group of species of caterpillars. ``Blepharipa fimbriata'' and ``Blepharipa albicauda'': Upon barcoding, ``B. fimbriata'' becomes four distinct groups, with B. fimbriataDHJ04 appearing to be a generalist feeding on at least 24 species in two families. However, all but one of the B. fimbriataDHJ04 host records is from a large hesperiine Hesperiidae caterpillar feeding on a monocot from grasses to palms ; SI Appendices 1 and 2 ; . We therefore conclude that this species is a generalist but only within one subfamily of hosts. The single exceptional host species record is Manataria maculata Nymphalidae ; , which feeds side-by-side with the usual hosts. The other three species of ``B. fimbriata'' each specialize on very taxonomically restricted groups of caterpillars. B. fimbriataDHJ11 displays more intraspecific variation than all of the other provisional specialist barcode species, including some instances of heteroplasmy, and the COI barcodes of all specimens are mingled among those of ``B. albicauda.'' B. albicauda is a putative generalist species that is morphologically quite distinctive because of a whitish tip tergite 5 ; to an otherwise mostly black abdomen, whereas ``B. fimbriata'' has the classical gray and black striped banded pattern of tachinids SI Appendix 6d ; . The CO1 barcodes of some individuals of B. fimbriataDHJ11 are too similar to those.

To 10-fold more active than strychnine; local administration of TDT to the rat cerebral cortex was 70-fold more active than strychnine 2 ; . Because the LD50 of TDT is very low, we could not determine this value for TDT in the blood of these cases with CC and flame-ionization detection. GC FPD was necessary to detect the very small amount of TDT in their blood. TDT is very effective as a rodenticide, but its use is limited because of its toxicity to humans 3 ; . According to The Merck Index, it is only an experimental poison and is rarely included in pesticide manuals. However, many commercial rodenticides currently contain TDT. Some rodenticides are prepared by adulterating the original agent with starch and thus and flax.
The IL-2 proximal promoter reconstitutes rotationally and translationally positioned nucleosomes in vitro To determine whether the establishment of a precise chromatin architecture, consisting of positioned nucleosomes, plays a role in the inducible expression of the human IL-2 gene, 5 end-labeled, IL-2 promoter DNA fragments Fig. 1 ; were reconstituted into nucleosomes in vitro 52 ; . Submission from Steven Rattray Proprietor of mmpg mmpg Background mmpg was founded in August 2000 with the core business being supplying match information and fantasy football competitions based on the Highland Football League to newspapers. Over the subsequent 30 months two websites have been launched to enhance the coverage given to the league and this has seen us employ 25 part time staff to report on HFL matches. The majority of the part time work force are senior school pupils who are employed following direct involvement with the schools and local authorities. We have given them an opportunity to gain intellectual work experience and confidence that they can produce work of a professional standard despite being still in their late teens as well as allowing them to earn money through an appreciation of sport. The readers are, naturally, Highland League fans based around the world with visitors from a total of 36 countries regularly logging on to highlandleague along with 24, 000 other readers every month and flecainide.

Disproportionate effect on the function of HDL. For example, HDL is the main carrier of sphingosine-1-phosphate in plasma, a very potent bioactive lipid that may mediate many of the salutary effects of HDL on cell function 5 ; . In fact, treating mice with a stable spingosine-1-phosphate analogue has been shown to reduce atherosclerosis, but whether measuring the sphingosine1-phosphate content of HDL is useful for predicting its anti-atherogenic capacity has not been carefully investigated. Figure 1 depicts the various known mechanisms whereby HDL protects against the development of atherosclerosis. Researchers believe that the reverse cholesterol transport pathway is the main atheroprotective mechanism of HDL 1 ; . Other mechanisms have been proposed, and this continues to be an active area of investigation.
